Oct 25, 2018Owen was born in Durham, North Carolina on April 1, 1954, a son of Margaret Fitzsimons Brice and George W. Brice Jr. MD. of Charlotte, North Carolina. The Brice family moved to Darien, Connecticut in 1961 and Owen graduated from Darien High School in 1972.He attended Duke University and graduated from the University of South Carolina in Columbia in 1977. Owen made his career as an investment manager. His enthusiasm for value investing was a tremendous benefit to colleagues and investors, and he welcomed the chance to serve a term as the president of the North Carolina Security Traders Association.After raising his children with their mother Louise in Charlotte, he moved to Pawleys Island where he enjoyed fishing, biking, poker games, golf and reading. He was an avid fan of the Carolina Panthers.Surviving are three children, Owen Fitzsimons Brice Jr. (Leigh), John Shuford Brice and Mary Margaret Draper “Molly” Brice of Charlotte; fiance, Stacey Sippel and her son Benjamin Nauss of Pawleys Island; a brother, George Wilson Brice, III (Alina) of New York City, NY; a sister Susanne Brice Drennan (Jim) of Charleston, SC; and granddaughter, Betsy Fitzsimons Brice.Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Holy Cross Faith Memorial Episcopal Church at Pawleys Island.In lieu of flowers memorial suggestions are: St. Frances Animal Center, 125 N.
